Purpose
The Arnold Lee Mickens Jr Scholarship Fund, Inc. was created to honor the life and legacy of Arnold Lee Mickens Jr by supporting students who demonstrate perseverance, leadership, and a commitment to education. This scholarship provides financial assistance to students pursuing college or vocational training, helping them achieve their academic and personal goals.
Eligibility Requirements
• Be a high school senior, current college student, or vocational/trade school student.
• Be a resident of [insert city, county, or state — e.g., Indiana].
• Have a minimum GPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale.
• Demonstrate financial need and a strong desire to further their education.
• Exhibit leadership qualities, good character, and community involvement.
Application Requirements
• A completed scholarship application form (online or PDF).
• A personal essay (500–750 words) on one of the following topics:
- “How will your education allow you to make a difference in your community?”
- “Describe a challenge you’ve overcome and what it taught you about perseverance.”
• One letter of recommendation from a teacher, counselor, mentor, or employer.
• An official or unofficial transcript showing your most recent GPA.
• Proof of college or trade school enrollment or acceptance (if available).
Award Amount
Scholarships will be awarded twice per year (Spring and Fall cycles). Individual award amounts will vary based on available funding (typically between $500–$2,500).

Selection Process
A committee of board members and community leaders will review all applications. Selections are based on:
• Academic performance and potential.
• Personal essay.
• Character and community involvement.
• Financial need.
Expectations of Recipients
• Maintain good academic standing.
• Participate in community service or mentorship opportunities if invited.
• Share a brief thank-you letter or video to be featured on the Fund’s website or social media.
